Chemical facial peels are a safe and effective way to accomplish skin rejuvenation without the need for a surgical procedure. The chemical peel treatments involve the application of a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layers of skin. At our practice we typically use phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and alpha-hydroxy acid solutions for facial chemical peels. Chemical peel at our Sydney-area practice is ideal for individuals seeking to even skin tone, improve skin texture, eliminate fine lines, and refine pores. Depending on the degree of rejuvenation desired, Dr. Harper can control the depth and intensity of the chemical peel to deliver custom tailored results. Contact our Sydney-based practice today for further information about the types of chemical peel treatments we offer.
Scar revision or scar removal can be accomplished through surgical methods and minimally invasive treatments. Dr. Harper will choose the appropriate scar removal technique depending on the depth, shape, and size of the scar(s). For mild to moderate superficial scarring, Dr. Harper may apply a chemical peel to smooth and exfoliate the skin or perform laser skin resurfacing to ablate the scar tissue. These methods are commonly used to treat acne scarring, moderate surgical scars, or scars left over from an injury. For deep scar removal, Dr. Harper may utilize the CO2 laser for resurfacing of the area or perform a surgical procedure called z-plasty, during which he removes scar tissue and reconnects the healthy skin. His experience in reconstructive surgeries and with wound healing makes Dr. Harper the ideal choice for performing your scar removal procedure. Dr. Harper may not be able to completely remove your scar, however using the techniques mentioned above he will be able to reduce its severity and make it far less noticeable. Contact Peninsula Plastic surgery and schedule a scar removal consultation at one of our Sydney area offices.
During a laser skin resurfacing treatment, also called a "laser peel," Dr. Harper uses a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to remove areas of damaged or wrinkled skin, layer by layer. The procedure is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes. However, it is also effective for treating facial scars or areas with blotchy, uneven pigmentation. Laser resurfacing may be performed along the entire surface of the face or for skin rejuvenation in specific regions. Using the Obagi® skin care products offered at our practice will help to maintain the effects of the resurfacing treatment. Often laser skin resurfacing is performed in conjunction with facial cosmetic procedures, including facelift and eyelid surgery to enhance the results.
The Dermaglide™ microdermabrasion system uses safe, natural baking soda powder for exfoliation and skin rejuvenation. During treatment a spray of baking soda particles is applied to the face and removes dead skin cells, clears pores, reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and stimulates collagen production. After treatment, skin tone and texture are improved, pores are refined, and fine wrinkles are diminished giving you fresh, vibrant, youthful looking skin.
Obagi® skin care products are an effective physician grade skin care regimen formulated to correct a variety skin blemishes, improve skin health, and provide comprehensive skin rejuvenation. The Obagi® skin care system can help reduce the appearance of:

Vitamin C is a vital factor in the preservation and maintenance of healthy, youthful looking skin. It is mandatory for the production of collagen; the protein that dictates the strong healthy cell structure responsible for creating firm, supple skin. Vitamin C also helps fight free radicals that damage the cells of the body, contributing to the aging process.
Obagi® has harnessed the power of Vitamin C in two strengths: the Obagi-C™ Rx system and the Obagi® Professional C serum. Both products reduce age spots, lines, and wrinkles while boosting collagen production- resulting in smooth, bright, toned skin. Contact Dr. Harper today to see how the Obagi® Vitamin C skin care products can help keep your skin looking young and healthy.
Mole and Cyst Removal
Dr. Harper removes moles, cysts, and birthmarks using a variety of methods which includes phototherapy or surgical techniques. The method used will depend on the characteristics of the lesion and its location on the body. Dermatologists recommend the removal of any benign lesion over a few millimeters in length in order to prevent the potential development of skin cancer. If you are dissatisfied with a mole, cyst, birthmark, or another type of benign lesion on your skin, contact Dr. Warwick Harper today to discuss safe and painless removal options.
Skin Cancer – Skin Reconstruction Surgery
If diagnosed with skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), treatment entails the swift and thorough removal of the malignant mole or skin lesion. To prevent reoccurrence of skin cancer, Dr. Harper must remove the BCC and SCC cells along with some of the surrounding healthy tissue. In some cases, this can leave a noticeable scar or depression if not treated with reconstructive measures. Dr. Warwick Harper uses skin and fat grafting, as well as advanced wound healing techniques, to reconstruct the area right after the BCC or SCC removal procedure. This gives the skin a smooth and natural appearance without having to sacrifice your long term health.
Through an advanced technique called diathermy, Dr. Harper can eliminate the appearance of facial spider veins. By gently heating the spider veins with a thin diathermy probe, the collagen fibers that form the veins are denatured and the veins coagulate beneath the skin. The remnants beneath the skin are then broken down by the body and eliminated. Diathermy has proven to be a reliable method for removing facial spider veins with little discomfort to the patient. If you are bothered by small reddish or purplish spider veins along your cheeks or other areas of your face, we encourage you to contact Peninsula Plastic Surgery for a consultation. During your skin evaluation, Dr. Harper will determine if diathermy or another type of treatment is right for you.
