Breast Augmentation – Breast Implants

Breast enlargement, also called augmentation mammaplasty, involves the placement of breast implants to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. By inserting the breast implants either behind or on top of the chest muscle, Dr. Harper can increase a woman's breast size and create symmetry between the breasts. The result of breast augmentation is a fuller, shapelier, natural looking bust line that enhances the proportions of your figure. Breast Lift

Breast lift, also called mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to lift and reshape breast tissue to elevate the bust line and create a more youthful breast contour. Breast lift can reduce the effects of age, gravity, and pregnancy by reducing excess skin and resculpting a more natural shape to the breast . Breast implants can be added during the lift to increase or restore breast volume. During the procedure Dr. Harper can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple to create a more natural, youthful looking appearance. Breast Reduction - Reduction Mammaplasty

Women with large heavy breasts can often be bothered with chronic neck and back pain due to the weight of their breasts. By reducing overly large or sagging breasts to a more proportionate shape and size through breast reduction surgery offered at our Sydney area practice, Dr. Harper can alleviate many of the medical side effects associated with uncomfortably sized breasts. During breast reduction, excess skin, fat, and breast tissue is removed, the breasts are reshaped to a smaller size and the incisions are carefully closed to minimize scarring after surgery. Our breast reduction patients are often extremely pleased with the symmetrical, proportionate results achieved during surgery. In nearly all cases, the daily physical and emotional discomfort these women experience before surgery is entirely eliminated after breast reduction. We also offer male breast reduction (gynecomastia surgery) to minimize male breasts and create a flatter, more masculine looking chest.

Inverted Nipple Repair

Inverted nipples can either lie flatly along the breast or be recessed within the areola. This can cause an unnatural appearance, as well as difficulties breast feeding for some women. Dr. Harper can use a variety of surgical methods to repair inverted nipples and restore the appropriate degree of projection from the breasts. Inverted nipple repair can be performed alone or to enhance the results achieved through breast augmentation, lift or reduction.

Excellent results are obtained for this embarrassing problem. Easily corrected as a local anaesthetic procedure – 1 hour day only procedure. Can return to work the following day and resume normal activities.

Two surgical techniques, depending on whether or the mammary ducts are divided.

a) Division of ducts to evert the nipple – simple procedure, minimal surgery and maximum eversion of nipple. Divided ducts means breast feeding is not possible later on.

Small 2mm incision at base of nipple, all ducts and fibrous bands to nipple are divided, nipple everts, then a small elastic splint inserted under nipple. Maintained in place 10 days, then easily removed. Nipple sensation maintained.

b) No division of ducts to evert nipple - through a small 2mm incision at base of nipple. Only fibrous bands to nipple are divided while the ducts are left intact, with nipple eversion maintained by inserting a plicating and ruching permanent suture at base of nipple.

Nipple Reduction

Overly large nipples can appear disproportionate with relation to the breast and cause an unbalanced or unnatural appearance. Often performed in conjunction with breast lift and breast reduction to create a more natural looking end result, nipple reduction can also be performed alone to help patients achieve attractive, well shaped nipples.
